Often a rough one, yes. Send photos of each side of the roof and the worst moss on WhatsApp with your area.

Munster Gutters, a Limerick roof and gutter company, warns against it: high-pressure washing can strip the surface off concrete tiles, crack older slates, drive water up under the laps and blast out ridge mortar (Munster Gutters). Ask any company how they clean before you agree.

Cleaning a roof with a solution applied at low pressure that kills moss, algae and lichen. Heavy moss is usually removed by hand first.

A little is mostly cosmetic. A lot holds water on the roof, blocks the gutters and can hide damage.

Ask. Clearing the gutters at the end of a roof clean makes sense, because that's where loosened moss ends up.

A good company shows you, with a photo, and gives a separate price for the repair before doing it.

No. Munster Gutters puts it simply: cleaning solves a moss problem, not a roof problem. If there's a leak, it needs a repair, and moss can hide the damage that causes it (Munster Gutters).

We pass your request to one local roof cleaning company that covers Limerick. They ring you, ask about the roof or look at your photos, and give you a price. Nothing is booked until you say yes. We don't name the company until they ring, and listing a company's prices here doesn't mean it's the one we pass you to.
